Randy B. Brooks

Randy B. Brooks specialized in criminal defense and death penalty litigation. He handled numerous capital cases, including many with jury trials. He never had a client receive the death penalty and received acquittals on capital litigation. He handled these cases at the trial level and at the appellate level.

Mr. Brooks began his career in Anniston, Alabama in 1978 and was in private practice in the Anniston area for over 32 years. Mr. Brooks graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1975 and from the Cumberland School of Law in 1978. He was a frequent lecturer and speaker at criminal defense law seminars.

Mr. Brooks was a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and served on its Board of Directors for several years. He is a past president of the Calhoun County Bar Association.

The Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association recently honored Mr. Brooks posthumously with its highest distinction, the Roderick Beddow, Sr. award for Lifetime Achievement in the profession of criminal defense.

Sadly, Randy Brooks passed away on October 14, 2012. The wisdom and leadership he provided our firm are missed. Randy will always be a part of Brooks, Harmon & Johnston, LLC. We will continue to honor Randy’s memory by striving to provide zealous representation to each and every one of our clients.
